The Institute of Creative Industries and Design is pleased to welcome a new faculty member, further strengthening its interdisciplinary integration in the field of creative industries. Beginning in the Spring Semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, Professor Ying-Yu Chen officially joins the Institute as its sixth full-time faculty member.
Professor Chen holds a Ph.D. in Human Centered Design and Engineering from the University of Washington. She has previously taught for many years in Taiwan and brings with her extensive experience in both teaching and research. Her academic expertise centers on human–computer interaction, critical computing, computer-supported cooperative work, and participatory design. She will be offering related professional courses at the Institute in the coming semesters.
In recent years, Professor Chen has led several National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) research projects, including initiatives on digital empowerment for immigrant women, chatbot systems for deep parent–child communication, family energy-use negotiation and communication, and children’s social virtual reality. Her work demonstrates a strong interdisciplinary approach that integrates humanities perspectives with technological innovation.
