We are gazing at the same sky
This artwork Under the Same Sky responds to the 2020 Taipei Biennial, curated by Bruno Latour and Martin Guinard, titled”You and I Don’t Live on the Same Planet,” While ecological Issues divide us and lead to varying interpretations of our planet from opposing perspectives, this piece invites us, to look beyond those divisions. By simply looking up at the same sky we all share, we can reconnect with Gaia, the Earth, and the natural world, reminding us of our common ground. Spiritual Life
Visitors enter a calm, serene space, where suspended ceramic fragments float gracefully, evoking peace and beauty. At the center, a heart-shaped light emits a warm glow, symbolizing life and connection, as if reflecting the rhythm of existence. Its gentle radiance highlights the surrounding natural elements, creating a harmonious scene. The display reminds us that diverse elements can coexist, while the heart-shaped light inspires a deeper appreciation of life’s interconnectedness. Embers Rekindled
Reflecting the area’s population migration, fading light and shadows symbolize people leaving, and the loneliness that follows. Yet, shifting light also represents the community’s resilience and unity, with hopes of renewal. Locally abundant bamboo shapes the artwork’s exterior, while an internal mechanism moves the light, adding dynamic visual depth. Weaving Dreams with Bamboo Light
This artwork blends natural and artificial elements, with suspended bamboo symbolizing vitality and cultural roots. Nighttime lighting creates a dreamlike interplay of light and shadow, reflecting emotional bonds and traditions. By reimagining heritage in a modern context, it highlights community resilience and fosters intergenerational connections, inviting viewers to reflect on time, memory, and human bonds. Phases of Life
This artwork combines botanical elements with acrylic to represent the life cycle of plants through light projection. The work depicts stages from growth to decay, with laser-engraved leaf veins symbolizing life’s fragility. Warm-toned LEDs in each panel cast a soft glow, evoking reverence for life. The play of light and shadow invites reflection on life’s cyclical nature and poetic beauty.
