At this year's biennial World Design Assembly held by the World Design Organization (WDO) in Tokyo, Japan, Professor Liou presented the results of their research quantifying the design power of a city.

Professor Liou was appointed this academic year as an Honorary Professor by the Faculty of Social Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
